FADE brings together the Asturian tourism sector in two BIAD project workshops

During March, the Asturian Federation of Employers (FADE) organised two workshops in Asturias as part of the European project BIAD (AI-Enabled Skill-Building for Tourism and Hospitality: Bridging the Industry-Academia Divide), an Erasmus+ initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between education and the tourism industry.

The sessions, held on 12 March in Oviedo in an online format and on 19 March as an in-person event in Arriondas, brought together around 60 participants from across the tourism sector, including companies, professionals and key associations such as the Rural Tourism Cluster of Asturias (ASTURAS) and the Association of Rural Accommodation of Asturias (ARCA), both associated partners of the project.

The workshops combined practical training sessions with participatory working groups, enabling attendees to identify current challenges and emerging needs in areas such as digitalisation, marketing, sustainability and workforce skills. These discussions provided valuable input for the design of future training programmes tailored to the specific realities of rural tourism.

Through these activities, FADE reinforces its role within the BIAD project as a representative of the business sector, ensuring that the needs and priorities of the Asturian tourism industry are reflected in the development of innovative, AI-supported training solutions at European level.

These workshops form part of the initial phase of the project, focused on analysing sector needs and identifying key competences for the future of tourism, contributing to a more responsive and industry-aligned training ecosystem.
