On March 17, 2026, the Ionian University Research Day was successfully held at the exhibition space of the Corfu Port Authority, an open celebration of scientific knowledge, creativity, and innovation, showcasing the rich and multidimensional research output of the University and strengthening its connection with society.
The Department of Tourism of Ionian University actively participated in the event, presenting the breadth and dynamism of its research activities through oral and poster presentations by PhD candidates, faculty presentations, and an exhibition booth.
At the Department's exhibition booth, the BIAD project was presented to the academic community through a dedicated poster and as part of a video showcasing the Department's research activity. The Research Day, dedicated to celebrating scientific excellence and innovation, provided an ideal context to highlight the research dimension of BIAD and its contribution to advancing knowledge on digital skills and AI adoption in tourism and hospitality.
The Department's participation in the event was coordinated by its Head and BIAD Scientific Coordinator for Ionian University, Professor Christina Beneki, who was present alongside faculty members and PhD candidates. Professor Beneki, together with members of the BIAD Research Team for Ionian University, Assistant Professor Kostas Vogklis, Assistant Professor Alkmini Gkritzali, and Assistant Professor Stergios Palamas (Department of Informatics), engaged with visitors at the BIAD poster, presenting the project and addressing questions.
